The Mishneh Torah (Hebrew: משנה תורה ), subtitled Sefer Yad ha-Chazaka (יד החזקה), is a code of Jewish religious law (Halakha) by one of the important Jewish authority Maimonides (Rabbi Moshe ben Maimon, also known by the Hebrew abbreviation RaMBaM, usually written "Rambam" in English). The Mishnahor Mishna(/ˈmɪʃnə/; Hebrew: מִשְׁנָה, "study by repetition", from the verb shanahשנה, or "to study and review", also "secondary")is the first major written collection of the Jewish oral traditionsknown as the Oral Torah. It is also the first major work of rabbinic literature. The significance of the Mishneh Torah’s form is that at the same time as it tells us how to perform the 613 commandments, it also conveys the commandments’ idea or purpose. Maimonides views the commandments as designed to perfect human be- ings.
